Tandem Leaning: Tandem Stretching & Strengthening

  • Read the introduction.
  • Sit back to back with your tandem partner. You can sit in a wide leg pose or with your legs crossed.
  • Place both of your palms against their palms and place your arms low close to the ground.
  • Use your hands to lean into their hands as they do the same.
  • Pull their arms back as they continue to lean away.
  • Keep leaning forward with your arms as they pull your arms back.

Reciprocal Lean: Isometric, Concentric, and Eccentric Contractions

Isometric Your arms are isometrically contracting as you and your partner use your hands to lean away from each other.
Concentric Your arms are strengthening as you pull their arms toward you.
Eccentric Your arms are resistance stretching as they pull your arms away from you.
Reciprocal The same holds true for your tandem partner.
